Network Storage Moves Done, New Locations for Drives
Information Services has completed a significant project to implement improvements to network data storage on campus. A few of these improvements are:
• Greater stability, reliability and redundancy for network data storage, due to the new clustered server environment and enterprise-class storage that has been implemented;
• Increased security and improved efficiency due to a full integration with Active Directory Services (ADS); and
• Better scalability for meeting future needs of the University user community.
New Location for Network Drives. This project included moving data to new locations within the network environment, and resulted in new drive mapping locations and shortcuts for some users. All network drives formally mapped by typing \\data2\{drive name}, and shortcuts created with this specific location, will need to be re-mapped/re-created.
Students. Students logging on to a University-owned PC in a computer lab will see their M: drive automatically mapped for them. Students using Macs will need to map their network drive to the following location: SMB://ucmohome/student/{userid}. Students using personally-owned PCs on campus will need to map their drives to the following location: \\ucmo.local\home\student\{userid}.
Faculty/Staff. For most individuals using a University-owned PC on campus, drives are mapped automatically when they log on. If your University-owned PC on campus does not map the network drives to which you should have access, please contact the Information Services Help Desk at 660-543-4357.
If you are using a Mac or a personally-owned PC on campus, you will need to map your drives to the following paths:
Faculty/Staff Home Drive
Department/Shared Drive
PC - Personally-owned
\\ucmo.local\home\facstaff\{userid}
\\ucmo.local\data\{departmental share}
Mac - All
//ucmohome/facstaff/{userid}
//ucmodata/department/{departmental share}
All users who are remotely accessing the campus network using a VPN connection will need to map their drives manually to the following paths:
Faculty/Staff Home Drive
Department/Shared Drive
PC -University-owned
\\ucmo\home\facstaff\{userid}
\\ucmo\data\{departmental share}
PC - Personally-owned
\\ucmo.local\home\facstaff\{userid}
\\ucmo.local\data\{departmental share}
Mac - All
//ucmohome.ucmo.local/facstaff/{userid}
//ucmodata.ucmo.local/department/ {departmental share}
If you have any questions about mapping drives or re-creating shortcuts, please contact the Information Services Help Desk at 543-4357.
