UCM President Charles M. Ambrose
As UCM’s president, I invite you to engage in the life of this exceptional academic community, and interact with the many outstanding students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends who make our institution special. Founded in 1871, UCM is a comprehensive, public university that provides more than 150 areas of study, and attracts students from around the world.
Equal to our breadth of areas of study, the depth of our student-centered academic program successfully prepares our graduates to enter a highly competitive workforce, and we’re proud our job placement rate has exceeded the national average for 16 consecutive years. Our students not only receive excellent classroom instruction with opportunities for internships, research and other hands-on experiences, but they also can take advantage of valuable service-learning opportunities. This is especially important in today’s society when our world needs individuals who understand the value of civic engagement and are willing to give of themselves to help build stronger communities.
A UCM education is rich with learning opportunities and sweetened by the social aspects of campus life. Our students enjoy being at the heart of Central Missouri’s cultural hub, where they have easy access to an array of guest speakers, art exhibits, plays and concerts, as well as the chance to show their school spirit at men’s and women’s athletics events. These activities contribute to a well-rounded social, cultural and artistic experience, and help shape our students’ lives.
One of our strongest assets is our knowledgeable and supportive faculty and staff members who take the time to get to know our students. We hope that as our students graduate and enter their professional lives, they will remember UCM as “The institution that not only helped make me who I am, but also cared about me.”
Education dreams come true at UCM. Please take some time to explore our Web site, and then come see firsthand what our campus has to offer. I’m confident you’ll enjoy finding out more about the University of Central Missouri.
Joining you in service,
Dr. Chuck Ambrose
