Introducing the R.ed Lead, Nominations Now Open
The UCM Foundation and UCM Alumni Association are empowering students starting Fall 2014 with a new student leadership group to educate current students as well as our 86,000 alumni and donors about the value of engagement and philanthropy.
"As the university increases its focus on student success, we are further embracing UCM's institutional culture and entrusting our students with new missions and opportunities," said R.ed Lead special projects coordinator, Marine Jegu. "We are expanding our current student leadership group, the Alumni Ambassadors, and it will carry a new name, The R.ed Lead starting in Fall 2014."
Their name, the R.ed Lead, represents UCM’s primary color, red, with the “ed” given special treatment to emphasize the importance of education, the focus of both the missions of the Foundation and Alumni Association. Organizational changes to the group include:
- Increased size, with double the number of students involved
- Expanded mission, giving students the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of alumni and nonprofit organization functions
- Redefined student roles, providing collaborative hands-on learning and networking opportunities and the ability for them to have direct contributions utilizing their skills and expertise
- Expanded representation, with students from each college, Athletics, the Greek system and International Center
We are currently asking faculty and staff to nominate their best students who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and are exceptional leaders, outgoing, personable and well-organized. Nominations are open online until March 14. Each nominee will have the opportunity to apply and interview for one of the 29 positions available for the 2014-15 academic year. All applicants will be chosen and notified by April 11.
