2012 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient — Brig. Gen. Arnold Neil

Brigadier General Arnold Neil Gordon-Bray of the United States Army is a native of Columbia, S.C. He graduated from UCM in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Art. Upon graduating, he was commissioned as an officer as part of the ROTC program. He has since earned his Master of Science in International Strategic Studies from Air War College in Alabama and a Master of Arts in National Security & Strategic Studies from Naval War College in Rhode Island.
He has been in the U.S. Army for 34 years, serving throughout the world and earning numerous awards including the Bronze Star. He currently is deputy director of operations for the U.S. Africa Command, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. He is one of 340 general officers in an army of 1.1 million.
