Samira Hussein 2007 UCM International Distinguished AlumnaThe 2007 Distinguished International Alumni Award recipient, Samira Hussein '83, '86, is a professor of business administration at Johnson County Community College. This past fall, she introduced a new international business curriculum to the community college. Originally from Pakistan, Hussein came to the U.S. to further pursue a college education. She earned two degrees from UCM: a master of science in clinical psychology in 1983 and a master of business administration in marketing in 1986.

By working closely with the JCCC International Education Office, she has taught in Ningbo, China, as well as representing the college in conferences and international programs in Mexico, UAE, Holland, England and Pakistan.

Hussein has been awarded the Burlington Northern Teaching Excellence Award and the Distinguished Service Award in recent years at JCCC. She also received the Midwest Region's International Teaching Excellence Award from the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs. She was selected for the honor from among association member institutions in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
