Meet the AMS Staff

Mary Griffis

Mary has a BFA in Commercial Art and a personalized MS in Industrial Technology emphasizing graphic arts management of educational technologies, from UCM. Her career at UCM has gone full circle. Mary spent nine years as an Instructional Designer followed by fourteen years coordinating UCM's educational media center service areas. She has been an active member of CCUMC (Consortium of College and University Media Centers). In her current role as Coordinator of Academic Media Services, (Instructional Design & Development and Instructional Video Services), Mary applies her years of experience in educational technology to provide instructional design services to the campus community.

Carol Knight

Carol received a Bachelors degree in Communications from Western Illinois University.  She began her career in television news where she started as a camera operator and moved up to technical director of evening newscasts in Des Moines, Iowa.  After five years in news Carol moved to Public Broadcasting and worked for Iowa Public Television for 3 years.  While at IPTV Carol worked on many studio productions including serving as Technical Director for the 2000 Presidential Debates held in Iowa.  In 2001 Carol began working as an Instructional Media Specialist at UCM. 

Carol is responsible for Instructional Video Services, a department under Academic Media Services.  From producing videos to preparing videos for web related use, IVS is responsible for all video related needs of the UCM community.  Carol offers training and assistance in any video related area. Carol is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Online Teaching and Learning.

Terry McNeeley

Terry McNeeley received a Bachelor of Fine Arts  degree in Commercial Art from UCM. He has over 10 years of web design and development experience, and more than 15 years of experience with instructional material design and production. 

Terry creates, develops and produces original instructional/presentational materials and/or packages including digital presentations, research poster presentations, university promotion and recruitment materials. He is also proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Powerpoint, QuickTime Virtual Reality software, 3D and traditional cell-type animation. Participated in Applying the Quality Matters (QM) Rubric course in 2010.

Lisa Schmidt

Lisa Schmidt received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Commercial Art and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Technology with photography emphasis. She earned both degrees from UCM. In addition to her duties as instructional designer, she served as an adjunct faculty member from 1999-06 in the UCM Photography department teaching an evening class. She previously worked as Art-Graphic Coordinator for The Media Center (1983-89) in Vo-Tech Materials Production: Art, Photography, Scriptwriting, and Video Editing.

Lisa creates, develops and produces original instructional/presentational materials including digital presentations, research poster presentations, and university promotion and recruitment materials. She offers training and services in the following areas: instructional materials production, photographic needs - taking photos on location or in our studio for instructional uses, working in Photoshop on digital image files and manipulation, materials conversion from traditional to digital, supplemental course website construction, and PDF scanning of materials for online course use. Participated in Applying the Quality Matters (QM) Rubric course in 2010 and currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Online Teaching and Learning.
