Location & Facilities
The Department of Art & Design is housed in three locations on campus, all within five minutes walking distance of each other: The Art Center, the Grinstead Building, and the Art Annex Ceramics Studio. The Art Center, found on the south side of campus, houses the departmental office and is the location for core drawing and design classes, as well as studio classes in painting and sculpture. It is also the location for courses in art history, art education, and illustration. In addition, the Art Center contains three beautiful gallery spaces.
The Grinstead Building is located a five minute walk north across campus from the Art Center. It houses courses in printmaking, interior design, and graphic design, along with the well-equipped computer labs associated with these programs.
The recently-renovated and well-equipped Ceramics Art Annex is a 40’ x 108’ freestanding structure with 12ft ceilings and many large windows promoting natural light.The building stands one block east of the Art Center near the corner of South Street and Maquire. The Ceramics Art Annex is equipped with a multitude of ceramic and woodworking hand tools, separate studio space for majors, attached outdoor covered and fenced 40’x20’ kiln pad, as well as current subscriptions to all major ceramic periodicals.
