Getting Started

To enroll in a Master's degree program at the University of Central Missouri, students must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Admission to the Graduate School, which permits enrollment in classes, is not equivalent to admission for a particular program or degree. Degree seeking students meeting the requirements for admission to graduate study will be forwarded to the department, as designated by the student, for consideration and recommendation. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for the particular academic program in which they wish to pursue a degree.

1. Complete the Graduate Application for Admission
The online Graduate Application for Admission can be filled out and submitted online. The Graduate Application for Admission is also available as an interactive PDF file which can be downloaded and filled out electronically. To use this PDF form you MUST have Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0. Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 is available free of charge from the Adobe website.

If you wish to request a form be mailed to you, please contact the Graduate School at 660-543-4621 or 877-SAY-UCMO.

2. Include a $30 application fee
Checks may be made payable to the University of Central Missouri.

3. Request official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended

4. Mail documents
A completed application and official transcript should be sent to:

5. Deadlines
All application materials should be received by the Graduate School at least three weeks prior to the beginning of the semester in which the student wishes to register.

Department admission requirements, including standardized tests, for specific graduate programs are listed in the Graduate Catalog. If you have additional questions about a degree program, or wish to speak with an advisor, please contact the department's Graduate Coordinator.

6. Send Additional Information
Send a cover letter expressing interest along with the following to Alan Nordyke:

  • Completed assistantship application
  • Three letters of references (at least one from academic faculty)
  • Writing sample
  • Resume
