Mules sign three for baseball
(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Central Missouri State Mules baseball coach Brad Hill has announced the signings of one junior college stand-out and a pair of prepsters to letters of intent for the 2003-04 school year.
Hill signed first baseman Will Broussard out of Bossier Parrish Community College in Bossier City, La., infielder Matt Teale from Lakeside High School in Hot Springs, Ark., and third baseman Michael Younghanz out of Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Mo.
Broussard (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) batted .370 with 30 runs batted in and a home run for Bossier Parrish as a freshman last season. This after enjoying a stellar high school career. There he was a two-time all-district selection, and as a senior was named All-Parish and All-State at third base after batting .409 with six home runs, eight doubles, and 28 runs batted in.
Teale (5-10, 170) has lined up at shortstop and second base, and also pitches for Lakeside High. He was an all-conference pick in 2001 and 2002, and was honorable metion all-state in 2001. Going into his senior season, he has batted .405 with 12 doubles, 18 stolen bases, three home runs, and 25 runs batted in. Teale has also played shortstop for his local American Legion team that won the state title in 2001, and has helped lead Lakeside High School to back-to-back-to-back state tournament appearances. In 2001 he also played in the Legion AA and AAA All-Star games.
Younghanz (6-0, 190) is a two-time all-conference selection for Oak Park High school. Last season he also earned All-Northland honors, and in 2001 he helped Oak Park to a third place finish at the state tournament.
The Mules open their 2003 campaign February 14-16 when they travel to Russellville, Ark. to take part in the Arkansas Tech Tournament.
