Danny Powers named to Academic All-District team
Danny Powers, starting righthanded pitcher for the Central Missouri State University Mules’ baseball team, has achieved many accomplishments both on and off the field. Now Powers can add one more off-the field accolade to his list.
Powers has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII Baseball College Division Team. The Carl Junction, Mo. native has a cumulative grade point average of 3.86 while studying Secondary Education/Social Studies at Central Missouri.
Powers’ senior campaign on the diamond has been successful as well. He boasts a 12-1 record with a 2.07 ERA. Earlier this season he pitched 30 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings which was one inning away from the school record. He became the Mules’ all-time strikeout leader in his next to last start, now boasting 246 Ks for his career. He leads NCAA Division II in wins, and is among the top three in the MIAA in most pitching categories, including ERA, opponents batting average, strikeouts, and complete games.
Powers is now on the ballot for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America team.
