Baseball Mules sign seven more for 2006 season
Raleigh Evans (6-foot, 185 pound pitcher from Lake City C.C.)
A two-time first team All-Mid-Florida Conference performer, he was named All-State this past season for Lake City. He went 10-3 in 2005 with four complete games, three saves, a 2.53 earned run average, 99 strikeouts, and a .209 opponents batting average in 103 innings pitched. He won 18 games in his career, going 8-4 as a freshman.
Mike Hopkins (6-foot-2, 195 pound catcher from Francis Howell High School)
A native of St. Charles, Mo., Hopkins earned four letters in baseball and another in football at Francis Howell. He was a three-time all-conference pick and earned all-state honors in 2002. A starter on the 2003 Class 4A state championship team, he played in the 2002 and 2003 St. Louis Area Baseball Association All-Star Game (earning MVP honors in 2003). He also played for the Midwest Prospects Organization in the summer of 2004.
Bridger Hunt (6-foot-1, 190 pound shortstop/second baseman from Pensacola J.C.)
Hunt was an All-Panhandle Conference pick for the Pensacola Junior College this past spring.
Prior to that, he lettered three times and was a three-time all-conference selection at Ouiedo High
School before enrolling at the University of Central Florida. He also earned second-team all-state
honors as a junior and senior at Ouiedo, helped lead the team to a pair of conference
championships, and to the 2002 state tournament.
Gerard Mochizuki (5-foot-9, 180 pound shortstop from Yavapai College)
The Maui, Hawaii native batted .277 this past spring with nine doubles, 26 runs batted in, and 19 stolen bases. Over the summer he ranked third in batting average in the prestigious Valley League, which is sanctioned by the NCAA and Major League Baseball.
Brandon Morris (6-foot-4, 190 pound pitcher/outfielder from Grain Valley [Mo.] H.S.)
A two-time all-conference selection at Grain Valley High, Morris was named all-area in 2004 when he also played on the American Legion All-Star Team and in the American Legion Showcase. Also a three-time all-conference pick in football, he was awarded Grain Valley High School’s Napier Most Valuable Player award in 2003.
Matt Pesch (6-foot-3, 215 pound catcher from Phoenix College)
As a sophomore, Pesch batted .157 with four doubles, 12 runs scored and eight runs batted in. He also made five relief appearances on the mound, throwing 4.2 innings. The Ironwood, Ariz. native went 0-1 with a save and two strikeouts, while holding opposing batters to a .133 batting average.
Travis Pyatt (6-foot-2, 225 pound pitcher from Meramec Junior College)
Pyatt earned a pair of letters at Meramec Junior College, and played in the 2004 Missouri Junior College All-Star Game, held at Central Missouri State. He graduated high school from Cuba (Mo.) High in 2003. There he lettered all four years on the diamond, earning all-conference accolades as a senior. He also lettered and earned all-conference honors in basketball.
