Mules baseball signs seven in early period

            The University of Central Missouri Mules have inked seven student-athletes for the 2008 season. The class includes five high school and two junior college players.
           

Tyler Anthony – OF
5-11, 175
Overland Park, Kan. / Shawnee Mission South High School
Going into his senior season for Head Coach Mitch Wiles, Anthony has been named to both the All-Sunflower League and All-Sun Country honorable mention teams twice… He has lettered in every season and helped his squad to the regional title in 2006… a three-sport athlete, he has also participated in hockey and football.

Aaron Brett – RHP
6-2, 226
St. Charles, Mo. / St. Charles High School
Through his first three seasons under coach Charles Meeker, Brett has been named team MVP and first-team all-conference… last year he recorded 85 strikeouts and had a .445 batting average… he helped St. Charles to a second place finish in state as a sophomore… he also lettered for the basketball squad.

Eric Cole – C
6-2, 220
Lee’s Summit, Mo. / Lee’s Summit North High School
Has lettered all three seasons for head coach Jeff Diekman, earning all-conference in each season as well… a two-time all-district pick, he was also named all area, all-metro and all-state as a junior last season… He set a school record for home runs in a season last year and batted .493 as a sophomore… in 2006 he logged 33 RBI and led the team to a Suburban Big Seven Conference title each of the past two seasons… he also played football his first two seasons, earning all-conference at running back in 2004 and played quarterback in 2005.

Matt Curtis – RHP
6-2, 175
Ashland, Mo. / Southern Boone High School
A three-year letterman for Head Coach Tony Phillips, Curtis has been named all-district and all-conference in each of his first three seasons… going into his senior season, he has already helped his team to a couple conference titles, earning all-state and all area honors as a junior… a three sport athlete, Curtis has also excelled as an all-conference basketball and football player.

Mike Hallam – 1B
6-2, 225
Forney, Texas / Paris Junior College
Earned first-team all-conference and all-region accolades for coach Darren Clark at Paris Junior College… participated in the TNMJCAA All-Star Game… batted .445 with eight home runs and 51 RBI’s to go with seven doubles and four triples… has one more season with PJC.

Colin Murphy – SS/2B
5-11, 170
Kansas City, Mo. / North Kansas City High School
Plays for head coach Jeff Klein, lettering all three seasons thus far… a three-time all-conference pick, he was named the conference player of the year in 2005… He was a three-time all-district selection as well as being a second-team all-state and all-metro pick in 2005… He helped his team to the 2004 conference title as well.

Garrett Yoder – SS/2B
5-8, 150
Peoria, Ariz. / Yavapai Community College
Batted .343 with 15 doubles, five triples, two home runs, and 16 stolen bases… helped Yavapai to a national runner up finish at the NJCAA Division I World Series… also led the team to a conference title… has one more season with Yavapai.
