Nick Webber (left) became the highest draft choice in Mules baseball history on Tuesday (June 7th) as he is selected in the 2nd round (Pick #78 overall) in the annual Major League Baseball Draft.  Webber was tabbed by the St. Louis Cardinals after establishing a new CMSU and MIAA career record for saves this past season for the Mules with 19.  Webber is with the New Jersey Cardinals (short season A League)  Danny Powers (2nd from left) was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 8th round (Pick #255 overall).  Powers established a new CMSU and MIAA record with 15 wins this past season on his way to being named the NCAA-II "Pitcher and Player of the Year".  Powers is with the Elizabethton Twins (Rookie League)  Jason Schutt (middle), a 12-game winner for the Mules, was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 10th round (Pick #304 overall).  Schutt is with the Burlington Indians (Rookie League)  Josh Outman (2nd from right), who won his last 10 consecutive games, was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 10th round (Pick #307 overall).  Outman is with the Batavia Muckdogs (short season A League)  Mike Phelps (right) was selected in the 11th round (Pick #340 overall) by the Chicago Cubs.  Phelps is with the Peoria Chiefs (Class A League)

Shawn Callahan, who was named the NCAA-II "Position Player of the Year", became the sixth CMSU player selected in the 2005 draft when the Oakland Athletics tabbed him in the 22nd round (Pick #671 overall).  Callahan is with the Vancouver Canadians (short season A League)

Patrick Evers (left) and Brent Lacy (middle) have signed with the River City Rascals, joining former Mules pitcher Steve McReynolds, while Dustin Bolton (right) has signed with the Evansville Otters.  Both teams are members of the Frontier Independent League.

Francisco Leandro, who was selected as a starter in the Class A Midwest League All-Star Game, June 22nd, in Peoria, Ill., is now a member of the Visalia Oaks (Class A Advanced League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays)  /  Steve Sharpe pitches for the AZL Athletics (Rookie League affiliate of the Oakland Athletics)  /  Zack Norman plays for the Clearwater Threshers (Class A Advanced League affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies)  /  Boomer Berry plays for the Kannapolis Intimidators (Class A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox)  /  Craig Ringe plays for the Bakersfield Blaze (Class A Advanced League affiliate of the Texas Rangers)  /  Morgan Burkhart, who has seen time in the major leagues, is currently playing with Saltillo Saraperos (Triple A Mexican League)
          


CMSU seniors receive the Central Regional championship trophy prior to the Mules first-round game of the NCAA-II Baseball Championships at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala., on Saturday night, May 28th.  Central regional chairman Kyle Poock (left) presented the trophy to the Mules.


Mules season ends with an 8-5 loss to eventual champion Florida Southern on Friday, June 3rd, in the semi-final round of the NCAA-II Championships in Montgomery, Alabama.  The loss was the Mules second consecutive setback to the Moccasins in the double-elimination event and ends the season for CMSU with a record of 57-9, and marks the third time in the past four yeas that the Mules have finished 3rd at the NCAA-II Championships.

 The celebration is on after the Mules captured the NCAA-II Central Regional championship on Saturday, May 21st, to advance to the NCAA-II Championships for the sixth consecutive season, and 10th time in the last 12 years.
