Mules To Conduct Clinic Saturday

Warrensburg, Mo. (May 2, 2001) -- Area youth summer-recreation baseball teams are invited to attend a free clinic conducted by Central Missouri State University's nationally ranked baseball team this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at CMSU's Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.

Coach Brad Hill's Mules, currently ranked fifth in NCAA Division II, will provide instruction in batting, pitching, fielding and base running. Following the clinic, youngsters will have a chance to get autographs of the Mules' players.

Clinic participants will also receive free tickets to the Mules' doubleheader with Northwest Missouri State University that begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Two youngsters from the clinic will be selected to participate in throwing out the first pitch of the twinbill's second game. The first 500 fans attending Saturday's doubleheader will receive a free water bottle courtesy of CMSU's public television station, KMOS-TV.

On Sunday the Mules will finish the regular season with a 1 p.m. game against Northwest Missouri State. The Mules currently are 40-8 overall, have clinched the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association regular-season championship and will be the host team and number-one seed for the MIAA Post-Season Tournament May 11-13 at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
