Sauer leads Mules golf to third place finish
Jon Sauer finished second at the MIAA Conference Championships three strokes behind Missouri Western's Brice Garnett helping the Mules to a third place finish at the tournament held at the Country Club of Blue Springs.
CMSU entered Tuesday in a tie for second with Washburn only seven strokes behind eventual conference champion Missouri Western with a score of 438. The Mules were in second holding a five stroke lead over the Ichabods heading into the final round, but could not maintain the lead as they shot a final round of 307. Sauer was tied with Garnett heading into the last round before shooting a 73 on the final 18. CMSU had two other place in the top 10 as Adam Frank finished seventh with a score of 223 and Danny Markham finished in a tie for 10th shooting a 225. Other CMSU individual scores: Kyle Hattock tied for 16th with a 228 and Ty Needels tied for 24th with a 233.
Central Missouri finished the regular season standings in third six points behind Missouri Western due to the points system in place.
