Mules Golf competing at SBU Classic
Mules golf is in third place after the opening round of the Southwest Baptist Invitational in Bolivar, Mo., on Monday. In the final event of the fall portion of the 08-09 season, the Mules posted a team score of 296, one stroke behind runner-up Washburn and seven strokes off the pace of the host SBU Bearcats. Justin Yoder had the top individual performance for the Mules with a one-under-par 71, and enters the final round on Tuesday tied for second place, one stroke off the top spot.
First Round Results
The competition in Bolivar is the second MIAA sanctioned event of the 08-09 school year, with the Mules placing first in the previous event, the Pittsburg State Classic in mid-September.
Mules football rolls past ESU
Mules football was solid in all phases of the game Saturday afternoon on the way to a 42-14 win over the Emporia State Hornets at Walton Stadium-Kennedy Field. UCM rolled out to a 42-0 lead early in the fourth quarter behind Eric Czerniewski, who threw four touchdown passes and ran for another. The Mules, who were ranked 22nd in the AFCA-II Poll and 24th in the D2Football.com Poll, improved to 3-1 in the MIAA and 5-1 overall with the win in front of 8870 fans as part of Parents Weekend. The Mules, who are fifth in the first NCAA-II Super Regional 4 ranking, will host the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State (ranked 3rd in the region) at 1:30 p.m.
Jennies soccer wins at MWSU
Jennies soccer made it seven consecutive MIAA victories Saturday night with a 3-0 triumph over Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Missouri. Lindsay Hoerl netted a pair of goals for UCM, while Melanie Hall scored the first goal of the match for the Jennies in just the second minute of play. Lauren Bamvakais recorded the shutout as the Jennies remain unbeaten in seven conference matches, and improve to 9-1-1 overall. Recap »
The Jennies, who are now receiving votes in the NSCAA/adidas D-II Poll, return home to the South Recreation Complex to host Truman State in a league match on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Jennies volleyball goes 3-1 at PSU Classic
Jennies volleyball finished play with a 3-1 record Saturday at the Pittsburg State Classic in Pittsburg, Kan., falling to then third-ranked West Texas A&M, before bouncing back for a sweep of Newman University. UCM had swept matches against Abilene Christian and Angelo State on Friday to open play in the event. Jennies Recap »
The Jennies are now 18-5 and remain 14th in the latest AVCA-II Poll as they get set to return to action Wednesday evening with a home conference match against 12th ranked Truman State at 7 p.m.
Mules and Jennies cross country at OSU
Mules and Jennies cross country squads competed Saturday at the Oklahoma State University Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Mules finished 13th in the men's division, with the Jennies placing 19th in the women's division.
