Jennies drop second game in Las Vegas, 92-79 to West Texas A&M

The Central Missouri State Jennies hit a school-record 14-of-30 from three-point range Wednesday night in Las Vegas, but it didn’t matter. For the second consecutive night, CMSU committed 20+ turnovers and struggled at the free throw line (when they got there). This time it was against No. 15 West Texas A&M University and as a result, the No. 18 Jennies fell 92-79 in their final game in the South Central Regional.

It was tight at the half, West Texas holding a slim 38-37 advantage after CMSU's Ashley Millham got a steal and hit a three-pointer with :01 remaining. The Jennies shot 40.5 percent from the floor and canned 6-of-17 (35.3 percent) from three point range, but only hit 1-of-3 from the free throw line. West Texas, meanwhile, shot 41.9 percent (3-of-9 from beyond the arc) and hit 9-of-12 charities.

Down the stretch the Lady Buffalos heated up, draining the net at 55.9 percent and nailed 12-of-15 from the free throw line. The Jennies, conversely, shot 41.2 percent and 6-of-9 free throws.

The turnovers didn’t make much of a difference. While CMSU committed 27 (leading to 29 West Texas points), WTAMU had 26 miscues (resulting in 28 Jennies points). West Texas was dominant in the paint, out-scoring CMSU 46-to-26. The Lady Buffs out-rebounded the Jennies 44-to-37.

Five Jennies scored in double figures. Meagan Fromm led the way with 15 points and hit 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Tiffany Vincent added 14 points and seven rebounds, Cydney Franklin tacked on 12 points, and Millham and Kara Rewerts each scored 11. Millham also had eight assists and three steals.
