Jennies fall on road again, 81-66

The University of Central Missouri Jennies dropped their fourth consecutive road game today, 81-66 to a Northwest Missouri squad that they beat earlier in the season back at the Multipurpose Building.
The loss was despite the continued solid play of Stephenie Cook and an 11-assist performance by Kim Battle.
After falling down 11-3 early, the Jennies (12-8, 5-6 MIAA) went on a 14-4 run to take a two-point advantage midway through the opening period. The Bearcats (13-8, 6-6 MIAA) wouldn’t let them enjoy it for long though, grabbing the lead on consecutive buckets with 7:20 remaining. Mandi Schumacher led the NWMSU charge with 10 points in the half. The Bearcats held their margin into the break at 31-27. Central Missouri was paced by Megan Schoenfeld with eight but it was forced into 11 team turnovers and a rebound deficit of six in the period.
The defense seemed to leave both teams in the first part of the second stanza with Northwest Missouri scoring 20 points by the first media timeout. Not far behind, the Jennies had 19 in the same amount of time, but still trailed 51-46. Schumacher continued to dominate inside and helped the Bearcats go on a 16-4 run to stretch the advantage to 15 by the 6:31 mark. Millham helped the Jens recover a little with a three just before the final media timeout of the game but it was too late. Northwest would lead by 17 before the final buzzer and had all five of its starters in double-digits.
Cook led the scoring for Central Missouri with 13 points while Schoenfeld finished with 12. Ashley Millham, Meagan Fromm, and Tamara Vincent all put up 10 for UCM as well.
Schumacher finished with 24 points to lead the Bearcats.
