Jennies end two game skid with convincing win
over Truman, 98-62

What a difference a week makes, after losing in the final seconds to Truman a week ago in Kirksville, the Central Missouri Jennies blew past the Bulldogs, 98-62 on Wednesday night at the Multipurpose Building. It was the most points scored against an MIAA opponent since a 98-65 victory over TSU in Dave Slifer’s first season.
Truman (8-12, 3-8 MIAA) trailed 11-10 four minutes in before the Jennies (12-7, 5-5 MIAA) blew the game open with a 23-8 run. It was sparked by their full court pressure, which forced nine turnovers during the stretch. UCM turned 14 first half Truman turnovers into 19 points. The Jens were just as good on the offensive end going 17-of-32 (53 percent) from the floor and 16-of-19 from the foul line as they took a 55-37 halftime lead. Nakaji Mitchell led the way for UCM with 10 points. Stephenie Cook, Ashley Millham, and Megan Schoenfeld had nine apiece.
The Bulldogs opened the second half by scoring six of the first eight points to get within 14. It would be the closest they would get however, as Central Missouri answered with a 16-3 run to push the lead to 73-46 with less than 11 minutes remaining. The Jennies would move it to as much as 40 points on a Stephanie Hicks lay-up with a minute remaining. The Jens continued their hot shooting in the second half knocking down 52 percent (15-of-29).
Cook led six Central Missouri players in double figures with a career-high 18 points (15 of them from behind the three-point line). Lindsey Maple dropped in 16, Millham and Schoenfeld each had 13, while Kim Battle and Mitchell finished with 10 apiece.
Laura Joya and Sarah Seberger paced the Bulldogs with 10 each.
