Jennies bounce back defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville 70-55

The Jennies bounced back from a tough shooting night on Friday and found their shooting touch on Saturday as they blew past Texas A&M-Kingsville, 70-55.
The Jens (2-1) fell behind early 12-7 before senior Meagan Fromm got the offense going by scoring nine straight points in a 17-2 run spanning nearly four minutes that gave Central Missouri a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the night. UCM gave the Javelinas fits with their defensive pressure as they forced 10 turnovers and scored eight points off those turnovers in the opening frame. The Jens shot better than 40 percent (13-of-30) from the floor and held Texas A&M-Kingsville to only 9-of-31 (29.0 percent) from the floor to head into the break up 38-25.
Central Missouri started the second half by scoring 22 of the first 28 points sparked by a couple of Lindsey Maple threes to grab their largest lead of the night at 60-31 with just less than nine minutes remaining in the contest. UCM would continue to give the Javelinas fits with their defensive pressure as they forced 14 more turnovers in the second half and never let them establish a rhythm offensively. Maple led the Jennies with 14 points while Fromm contributed 10. Kim Battle scored nine points and pulled down a career high nine boards to finish a point and rebound away from her first double-double of the season. Lana Toki paced Texas A&M-Kingsville with a game high 17 points and Jasmine June added 10 more all in the opening half. For the game the Jens shot 40.7 percent from the floor (22-of-54) while holding the Javelinas to 18-of-58 from the floor (31.0 percent).
