Fifth Ranked Washburn too much for Jennies, 66-44

The Central Missouri Jennies hung with fifth ranked Washburn for a half before the Lady Blues turned it on in the second half for a 66-44 win. For the Jennies it was their lowest point total in a game since February 28, 1996, when they scored 35 points against Southwest Baptist at the Multipurpose Building.
The first half was a defensive struggle as neither offense shot the ball very well early and struggled to hold on to the ball. Central Missouri (8-3, 1-1 MIAA) grabbed their largest lead of the half at 12-3 on a Lindsey Maple three point basket with 12:46 to play. WU (10-1, 1-1 MIAA) responded behind the duo of Brooke Ubelaker and Corkey Stiger as they combined to score 14 of Washburn’s next 17 points in a six minute span to give the Lady Blues a 20-18 lead with 4:39 remaining in the period. The final four minutes of the half went back and forth with each side knocking down shots to answer each other but the Lady Blues went into the break up 29-26.
In the second stanza it was all Washburn, though, as they scored the first seven points of the frame and never looked back. Central Missouri struggled to put the ball in the basket, while WU could not miss from the field, building their lead to 63-37 with less than six minutes to play. The Lady Blues shot 57.7 percent (15-of-26) from the floor in the second half while holding the Jens to only 6-of-23 (26.1 percent) from the field.
Meagan Fromm and Maple were the only Jennies in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.  Ubelaker led the way for the Lady Blues with 17 points while Stiger added 13.
