Jennies use first half run to defeat
Arkansas Tech, 58-49

               The Central Missouri Jennies won a match-up between two of the winningest teams in NCAA-II history against the host school Arkansas Tech Golden Suns, 58-49 on Friday night in the Holiday Inn/PDQ Classic in Russellville, Ark. The Jennies are the fourth winningest team with 728 wins while ATU is seventh with 722.
            The Jens (3-1) fell behind early, but quickly responded with a 12-1 run sparked by seven points from senior Kim Battle, and would not trail the rest of the evening. UCM would build its lead to as much as 31-16, its largest of the night, with less than five minutes remaining in the opening half. Arkansas Tech (1-2) would not go quietly as they closed the frame on an 11-2 spurt to pull within six at the break.
            Central Missouri connected on 12-of-32 from the floor (37.5 percent) while the Golden Suns were a little warmer knocking down 42.1 percent of their shots (8-for-19). The Jennies out rebounded ATU 19-14 and had eight offensive rebounds compared to only one for Arkansas Tech. Battle led the Jens in scoring with nine first half points and Meagan Fromm dropped in eight. Katie McCormick and Christy Mahan each had six to pace the Golden Suns.
            UCM took control of the game early in the second stanza by scoring eight of the first 12 points to extend its lead back to double digits. Arkansas Tech would cut the lead to eight, but could get no closer as the Jennies got a couple of lay-ups from Stephanie Hicks and a three-point basket from Megan Schoenfeld to stretch the lead back to double digits with five minutes remaining in the game.
            Central Missouri heated up shooting the ball from the floor in the second half, knocking down 55 percent of its shots (11-of-20) and held Arkansas Tech to 8-for-22 (36.4 percent). UCM won the rebounding battle 30-28 and pulled down 10 offensive boards, which led to 17 second chance points. Battle and Fromm were the only Jennies in double figures with 13 and 10, respectively. Lindsey Maple had nine and Ashley Millham added seven more. Battle and Millham were the leading rebounders with six apiece. Christy Mahan and Nikki Earles led the way for Arkansas Tech with eight points each.
