Jennies down Barry, 69-47

For the third straight game the Jennies led from start to finish on their way to victory, this time over Barry University, 69-47 on Monday evening in the Cruzin’ Classic in Miami Shores, Fla.
Central Missouri (7-2) came out of the gates by scoring the first 10 points and never looked back on their way to a 32-21 halftime advantage. Ashley Millham and Kim Battle got the Jens going offensively by combining to score 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor. Millham knocked down a couple of threes and UCM was dominant on the boards, pulling down 26 rebounds, including nine on the offensive end, resulting in 13 second-chance points. The Jennies defense made life tough for the Buccaneers (2-4), holding them to only 29.6 percent from the floor (8-of-27) and forcing nine turnovers.
Barry would score the opening bucket of the second half to cut the lead to single digits, but it was short lived as the Jens scored five straight points to extend the margin back to double digits. BU would get no closer than 12 points the rest of the night. UCM continued its defensive pressure scoring eight points off of 10 turnovers by the Buccaneers.
After shooting 39 percent from the floor in the first half, the Jennies were even better in the second frame, connecting on 50 percent of their shots (12-for-24) including 9-of-12 (75 percent) from inside the three point line. Central Missouri continued their strong play on the boards as they matched a season-high with 44 rebounds.
Battle recorded her second double-double of the season by scoring a game-high 23 points and tied a career-high in rebounds with 11. Millham contributed 18 while Lindsey Maple and Meagan Fromm just missed double figures with nine points apiece.
Alex Fernander was the lone player for Barry in double figures with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
