LeAnn Weeks Named Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Warrensburg, Mo. (Sept. 20, 2000) -- LeAnn Weeks, who served last season as a graduate assistant on the Central Missouri State University women's basketball staff, has been named to the full-time assistant coach's position under head coach Scott Ballard. She replaces Kim Yancey, who left this summer to take an assistant coaching position at Brown University.

Weeks came to Central Missouri State last year from Hastings College in Nebraska, where she played for three seasons. She was a two-year starter and earned first-team all-conference honors both seasons.

She was team MVP as a senior and led Hastings to a 28-7 record, a conference championship and a number three final NAIA ranking. She was named the school's female athlete of the year as a senior and received her bachelor's degree in communication arts in May of 1999.

Weeks played at Wayne (Neb.) State College as a freshman before transferring to Hastings. She completed her college basketball career with 1,118 points and 354 assists.

A native of Juniata, Neb., Weeks was a three-sport athlete at Adams Central High School in Hastings, earning a total of nine letters in basketball, volleyball and track. In basketball, she was an all-state selection as a junior and senior and finished her four-year career as the school's career scoring leader with 1,045 points.

The Jennies were 22-7 last season and received an NCAA Division II tournament bid.
