| Jennies' Annual Scholarship Recipients Announced
for 2001 Warrensburg, Mo. (Feb. 17,
2001) -- The 2001 scholarship recipients for the Central Missouri State
University basketball Jennies of have been announced. The annual awards were presented
between games of the CMSU-Missouri Southern State College basketball doubleheader on Feb.
17.
Nicole Cassmeyer was the recipient of the Lila L. Carter
Memorial Scholarship, established in honor of the longtime Warrensburg resident
and Jennies' booster. The scholarship award is dedicated to the late Mrs. Carter's love of
women's basketball and her appreciation for the individual strength of character required
to be an exemplary player and leader. The recipient must have a minimum overall grade
point average of 3.25.
Cassmeyer is a junior from Jefferson City, Mo., and is a graduate of Blair Oaks High
School. She has played in all 23 games for the Jennies this season and is averaging 7.6
points and 5.2 rebounds per contest. She is majoring in secondary education and is the
daughter of John and Rebecca Cassmeyer.
Michelle LaBoube (pronounced lay-BOO) was the recipient of
the Janet Clark Memorial Scholarship, established in honor of the
longtime Warrensburg resident and enthusiastic Jennies' supporter and awarded annually to
a junior or senior on the Jennies' basketball team. The recipient must have a minimum
overall grade point average of 2.50 and demonstrate good character, leadership and
service.
LaBoube is a junior from Hermann, Mo., and a graduate of Hermann High School. She has
played in 17 games for the Jennies this season after transferring to Central from
Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo. She is majoring in exercise science and is the
daughter of Dale and Janet LaBoube.
Stacy Butterworth was the recipient of the Alice & Gilbert
Forbush Memorial Scholarship, established in honor of the longtime Warrensburg
residents and Jennies' boosters. The scholarship is awarded annually to a Jennies'
basketball player who best exemplifies the outstanding qualities of life the Forbushes
displayed during their lifetime. Mrs. Forbush died in 1984 and Mr. Forbush died in 1996.
Selection of the recipient is made by a committee consisting of Jennies' Head Coach
Scott Ballard, Senior Women's Administrator Cindy Parks, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schrader,
who initiated the scholarship fund in 1984.
Butterworth is a sophomore from Monett, Mo., and is a graduate of Monett High School.
She has played in all but three games for the Jennies this season. She is the daughter of
John and Susan Butterworth. |
