Jennies Wrap Up Non-League Slate; Begin Conference Action Following Holidays

Warrensburg, Mo. (Dec. 14, 1999) -- With final exams for the fall semester almost completed, the basketball Jennies of Central Missouri State University can begin focusing on their final non-conference test of the season on Dec. 30, when they host former Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association member Lincoln University. Game time at the CMSU Multipurpose Building will be 7 p.m.

The schedule will then heat up for the Jennies following the holidays as they will play three conference games in six days to start MIAA play. They will make their 1999-2000 league debut at Pittsburg State University on Jan. 3 at 5:45 p.m., then return home to host Truman State University on Jan. 5 and Missouri Western State College on Jan. 8 in a pair of 5:30 p.m. contests.

All of the Jennies' MIAA games will be broadcast on KLRQ Radio of Clinton, Mo. (96.1 FM), with air time slated for 15 minutes prior to tip-off. The broadcasts can also be heard via the Internet on KLRQ's web site at http://www.klrq.com or TEAMLINE (dial 1-800-846-4700, use access code 3946 and a credit card).

The Jennies will enter the Lincoln contest with a 6-1 overall record and a five-game win streak. They have won 14 of their last 17 outings dating back to the final month of the '98-99 campaign after posting a pair of victories last week. They defeated Morningside College 83-62 in Sioux City, Iowa, on Wednesday, then returned home on Saturday to topple William Woods University 81-49.

Lincoln University will take a 1-11 record into Saturday's game at Southwest Baptist University and will host Kentucky Wesleyan College on Dec. 20 prior to its visit to Warrensburg. The Blue Tigers, who began the season with a fourth-place finish in the CMSU University Inn Jennies Classic back in November, halted a 28-game losing streak on Dec. 11 with a 94-47 victory over American University of Puerto Rico in the seventh-place game of the West Texas A&M University 7-Up Lady Buff Tournament.

Pittsburg State will put a 6-1 record on the line on Saturday when it hosts MidAmerica Nazarene University. The Gorillas had won their first six outings, the first five of which were at home, prior to dropping an 81-76 decision to the host Aggies in the final round of the Cameron University Classic on Saturday in Lawton, Okla.

Truman State will enter Saturday's home game against the University of Southern Indiana with a 5-0 mark. The 22nd-rated Bulldogs will also play at Rollins College and Eckerd College on Dec. 28 and Dec. 30, respectively, and host Washburn University on Jan. 3 before heading to Warrensburg. TSU escaped from Hannibal-LaGrange College with a 67-61 win in overtime in its most recent outing on Dec. 7.

Missouri Western will take a 4-2 record to Reno, Nev., this weekend for tournament games against 20th-ranked Abilene Christian University and St. Gregory's University on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Lady Griffons will play at Emporia State University on Jan. 3 and will host Pittsburg State University on Jan. 5 prior to their visit to CMSU. Western has rebounded from a 1-2 start to win its last three contests.
