| Jennies' Annual Scholarship Recipients Announced
for 2000 Warrensburg, Mo. (Feb. 12, 2000) -- The 2000
scholarship recipients for the basketball Jennies of Central Missouri State University
have been announced. The annual awards were presented between games of the CMSU-University
of Missouri-Rolla basketball doubleheader on Feb. 12.
Nicole Cassmeyer was the recipient of the Lila L. Carter
Memorial Scholarship. Established in honor of the longtime Warrensburg resident
and Jennies' booster, the scholarship is dedicated to the late Mrs. Carter's love of
women's basketball and her appreciation for the individual strength of character required
to be an exemplary player and leader. The recipient must have a minimum overall grade
point average of 3.25.
Cassmeyer, a sophomore secondary-education major from Jefferson City, Mo. (Blair Oaks
H.S.), has played in all 21 games off the bench for the Jennies this year and is averaging
7.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest. She is the daughter of John and Rebecca Cassmeyer
of Jefferson City.
Marlies Ozias received the Janet Clark Memorial Scholarship.
Established in honor of the longtime Warrensburg resident and enthusiastic Jennies'
supporter, the scholarship is awarded annually to a junior or senior who has a minimum
overall grade point average of 2.50 and demonstrates good character, leadership and
service.
Ozias, a junior dietetics major from Centerview, Mo. (Crest Ridge H.S.), has started
every game for the Jennies this season and is averaging 10.7 points and 3.5 rebounds per
outing. She is the daughter of Art and Debra Ozias of Centerview.
Katie Vaske was the recipient of the Alice & Gilbert
Forbush Memorial Scholarship. Established in honor of the longtime Warrensburg
residents and Jennies' boosters, the scholarship is awarded annually to the player who
best exemplifies the outstanding qualities of life the Forbushes displayed during their
lifetime and was initiated by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schrader in 1984.
Vaske, a sophomore pre-medicine major from Bancroft, Iowa [Algona (Iowa) Bishop
Garrigan H.S.] has started all but one game for the Jennies this season and is averaging
9.9 points and a team-leading 6.3 rebounds per game. She is the daughter of Darryl and
Brenda Vaske of Bancroft. |
