Mules’ Hicks named to All-Region Team
Michael Hicks has played a key role in the Central Missouri State University Mules’ run to the MIAA regular season and postseason tournament titles. He has been the Mules’ leading scorer as they prepare to make their first trip to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional for the first time since 1996-97.
For his efforts, Hicks has been recognized by the sports information directors in the region, as he has been named to the Daktronics All-South Central Region second team.
A unanimous first-team All-MIAA pick and the MIAA Postseason Tournament Most Valuable Player, Hicks is pouring in 17.1 points per game while hitting 46.7 percent of his shots (73-of-177, 41.2 percent from three-point range) and 87.3 percent from the free throw line (second-best in NCAA-II). He also is pulling down 4.5 rebounds per game and has dished out 63 assists while pulling 29 steals.
The Mules (24-6), seeded second in the tournament, face No. 7 Tarleton State University (21-8) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in the opening round of the South Central Regional Tournament in Commerce, Texas.
