Hicks highlights four Mules with All-MIAA honors
Senior guard Michael Hicks was named first-team All-MIAA for the second consecutive season, helping the Central Missouri State Mules (21-6, 11-5 MIAA) to a second place finish in the league.
The announcement came Sunday during the MIAA Media Welcome Reception to kick off MIAA Postseason Tournament Week at the Downtown Marriott Hotel.
Hicks, along with three other players, were named to the All-MIAA teams. Junior guard Wadale Williams and junior center Alonzo Brooks were honorable mention All-MIAA picks, while senior guard Theo Jones was chosen to the MIAA All-Defensive squad.
Hicks leads the MIAA in scoring (21.5 ppg), free throw percentage (86.9), and three-pointers made per game (3.81). He also shattered the CMSU single-season record for three-pointers made with 103 (the old record was 86). Hicks has been named MIAA Player of the Week three times and scored over 20 points on17 occasions this year. He is currently ranked 17th in CMSU history with 1,103 points in only two years with the Mules, placing him in seventh among two-year players.
Williams leads the team in assists, dishing out 126. He also averages 11 points per game and has a team-high 56 steals. He ranks in the top four in the MIAA in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.83), steals (2.00 pg), and assists (4.67 pg).
Brooks leads the team and is seventh in the MIAA in rebounding (6.3 pg). He is also second on the team and 17th in the league in points with 11.6 per outing. Brooks has racked up three double-doubles this year and scored in double figures 17 times. He is also ranked second in the MIAA in offensive rebounds per game at 2.96.
Jones led the team in blocks six times and has guarded many of the MIAA's top scorers this season. He has led the team in steals four times and leads the team in three-point percentage (47.1), hitting 33-of-70.
