Zack Wright dribbles past a Winona State player during the semi-final round of action in Springfield, Massachusetts. Wright tied his season high with 33 points, but the Mules saw their season come to an end with a 90-85 overtime loss to the defending champions. The Mules held a four-point in regulation with 40 seconds to play, only to see Winona State come back to tie and force the extra session. UCM never held the lead in the overtime and fall just short of playing for the national championship on Saturday. Darryl Sommerset and Theo Jones were the only other Mules to score in double figures with 16 and 15 points respectively. The Mules, who were playing in the national semi-finals for the first time since their 1984 national championship in Springfield, finish the season with a 31-4 record.
