Free Basketball Admission with Canned-Food Item

Warrensburg, Mo. (Dec. 4, 2000) -- In an effort to help some needy families at Christmas time, Central Missouri State University Athletics Director Jerry Hughes has announced that fans attending Saturday's (Dec. 9) Mules' basketball game and the Dec. 17 Jennies' basketball contest will be admitted free if they bring a canned food item.

Any fan bringing a canned food item Dec. 9 or Dec. 17 will receive a free general admission ticket to that game. All food items collected will be given to the Warrensburg Food Center, which provides food for needy families.

Piggy Wiggly is providing grocery carts, which will be located at each entrance to the Multipurpose Building and which will serve as containers for the donated items both nights.

The Mules play Lincoln University Saturday at 7 p.m. in their final non-conference home game of the season and their final home appearance overall until Jan. 8. They will be looking to avenge a loss to the Blue Tigers on Nov. 28 in Jefferson City and extend their string of consecutive non-conference home wins to 48 in a row.

The Jennies will meet Morningside College at 2 p.m. Dec. 17 in their final home game before the Christmas holiday break.
