Lamont Frazier Joins Mules' Basketball Staff

Warrensburg, Mo. (Aug. 31, 1999) - Former University of Missouri Tiger basketball player Lamont Frazier is joining the Central Missouri State University men's basketball staff as Head Coach Don Doucette's top assistant. Frazier has been the assistant men's basketball coach at Lincoln University the past two seasons. He replaces Bill Walker, who left the Mules' staff to become an assistant at the University of Minnesota.

"Lamont has a lot of recruiting contacts and is very well-known throughout the state," Doucette said. "He's energetic, a hard worker and someone who is going to help us continue to move forward with our program. We're delighted to have him joining our staff."

A native of Charleston, Mo., Frazier played four seasons (1990-94) for the Tigers under Norm Stewart. As a senior, he was team captain of the Tigers' 1993-94 squad that went 28-4, reached the NCAA Elite Eight and won an undefeated Big Eight championship. He earned honorable mention all-Big Eight honors that season and also was named to the Big Eight All-Defensive Team.

Following his basketball career at Missouri, he played football for the Tigers in 1995 and was a second-team all-Big Eight selection at tight end. The 27-year-old Frazier received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Missouri in 1995.
