Mules Sign First Recruit for Next Season

Warrensburg, Mo. (Apr. 21, 2000) - Central Missouri State University men's basketball coach Don Doucette has announced the signing of his first recruit for the 2000-2001 season. Joining the Mules for next season is Phil Gettinger (pronounced Getting-jer), a 6' 9" post player who averaged 18 points and 15 rebounds per game for Warrenton (Mo.) High School this past season.

Gettinger was a unanimous first-team all-conference selection and earned second-team all-state honors in Class 3A. He helped lead Warrenton to a 21-7 record and a district championship.

"Phil is a fundamentally sound player, who has good passing ability in addition to his scoring and rebounding talent," said Doucette. "We feel he brings a lot of positives to our program and has the potential to be a solid player for us in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association."

The Mules were 16-11 this past season, their fourth under Doucette. Central Missouri State has the most all-time wins in NCAA Division II men's basketball with 1,311.
