Six CMSU Jennies named to All-MIAA Softball team
Six Central Missouri State University Jennies were recently named to the All-MIAA Softball Team, as voted by the conference’s coaches.
Second-team honors went to shortstop Kassie Long (senior from Carrollton, Mo.) and pitcher Lauren Young (freshman from Lenexa, Kan.). The Jennies also had four players on the honorable mention All-MIAA team: pitcher Laura Ruebhausen (senior from Leavenworth, Kan.), catcher Mickey McCulloch (senior from Prince George, B.C.), centerfielder Emmie Shaw (senior from Coralville, Iowa), and utility player Megan Bax (sophomore from Jefferson City, Mo.).
Long set the Jennies season and career records for home runs in 2004. She led CMSU with a .368 batting average, 14 doubles, 13 home runs, 41 runs batted in, 64 hits, 48 runs, and 19 walks.

She went 18-7 on the year with 19 complete games, six shutouts, a 0.97 earned run average, and 157 strikeouts in 173 innings pitched. In the MIAA Tournament semifinal game against Missouri-Rolla, Young set a school record by throwing the full 18 innings. She also served as designated player for the Jennies, posting a .278 batting average with four doubles and a team-high four triples.
As the Jennies’ number two starter, Ruebhausen went 7-6 with a 1.81 earned run average in 89 innings of work. McCulloch was the player primarily responsible for handling the Jennies’ pitchers. She had 10 doubles and five home runs with 25 runs batted in while batting .296 for the year.
