Jennies place 11 on MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for softball

 

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) ‑ The Central Missouri State Jennies softball team is represented by 11 players on the 2004 MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.

Named to the team this season are Megan Bax (Jefferson City, Mo.), Kristy Furrer (St. Louis, Mo.), Rene' Haines (Olathe, Kan.), Kelly Harris (Jasper, Mo.), Megan Leston (Windfield, Ill.), Kassie Long (Carrolton, Mo.), Mickey McCulloch (Prince George, B.C.), Miranda Myer (Kansas City, Kan.), Laura Ruebhausen (Bonner Springs, Kan.), Emmie Shaw (Coralville, Iowa), and Erin Wood (Yukon, Okla.).

A sophomore third baseman/catcher, Bax is an athletic training major who batted .297 with three home runs, eight doubles, and 26 runs batted in. 

Furrer is a sophomore elementary education major and was the Jennies starting first baseman.  She batted .194 in her first year of competition after missing the previous two seasons with injuries. 

A junior reserve at second baseman, Haines is majoring in communications disorders, and appeared in 16 games..  Harris, a senior reserve in the outfield for the Jennies, is an exercise science major who batted .308 in 10 games.

Leston is a junior pitcher/third baseman for CMSU.  A nursing major, she went 6‑3 in 2004 with a 2.71 ERA and batted .230 with three doubles and a triple. 

Long started all 56 games at shorstop, and led the Jennies in batting, doubles, home runs, and RBI.  A senior early childhood education major, she batted .368 with 14 doubles, 13 home runs, and 41 runs batted in.

McCulloch, a senior biology major, was the Jennies' catcher and also was a designated player.  She batted .296 with 10 doubles, five home runs, and 25 RBI in 2004.

A sophomore accounting major, Myer started in right field  last spring.  She had a .259 batting average with seven doubles.

Ruebhausen, a senior math education major, was the Jennies' number two starter.  She went 7‑6 with a 1.81 earned run average and tossed four shut outs.

Shaw, a four‑year starter in centerfield, is a senior business management major.  She batted .278 in her final collegiate campaign with seven doubles and three triples.

Wood , a junior speech pathology major, went 4‑1 with a 1.49 ERA.

To be named to the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll teams, student‑athletes must have a cumulative grade‑point average of 3.00 or better at the qualifying institution; must have at least two terms of attendance at the member school, excluding summer sessions; must be a sophomore, junior, or senior in athletic eligibility; and may not be inactive due to redshirt or hardship qualification.
