Jennies’ Kassie Long named to Academic All-America Softball Team


(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Senior shortstop Kassie Long (Carrollton, Mo.) was recently rewarded for maintaining a perfect 4.00 grade-point average throughout her collegiate career, as she has been named a first-team Academic All-American.  Long, a second-team All-MIAA pick in 2004, batted .368 wth 14 doubles, 13 home runs, and 41 runs batted in this past season. She is an early childhood education major and the daughter of Keith and Kathy.

The Jennies finished the season with a mark of 37-19, 11-7 and fourth in the MIAA. They went on to finish second in the MIAA Tournament, advancing to the championship game when a Long home run to left ended a school-record 18-inning affair with the University of Missouri-Rolla, 2-1.  The Academic All-America program is sponsored and voted upon by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
