Sumrell picks up 800th victory

The Central Missouri State Jennies gave head coach Rhesa Sumrell her 800th NCAA coaching victory by defeating the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 4-1 on Saturday in the Teri Mathis Zenner Memorial Tournament in Joplin, Mo.

She has compiled a 592-341 record in her 19th year at CMSU. Sumrell is ninth on the NCAA's all-time Division II win list and she was 41st among active coaches in winning percentage (.616) heading into this season.

"It's nice to get number 800," Sumrell said. "They are not your wins though they belong to all the kids who played for you but they get credited to your name".

"I have been very fortunate to be at place like Central Missouri for as long as I have and I think all of the wins here is more of a major accomplishment because it shows consistency over a long period of time."
