Jennies fall to Minnesota-Duluth, 1-0
The Central Missouri Jennies softball team had its season come to an end on Friday losing to Minnesota-Duluth, 1-0 in an elimination game at the North Central Regional Tournament in North Mankato, Minn.
It was a classic pitcher's dual between the Jennies Kristal Holland and Duluth's Kristen Danielson with each pitcher going the distance. Holland held the Bulldogs to three hits through seven innings and at one point retired 13 straight batters before allowing a one out single in the eighth. Danielson was just a little bit better though as she allowed only three Jens to reach base in her eight innings. UMD (31-23) had a chance to break on top in the second inning but Holland was able to get out of a two out two on situation with a fly out to Jenny Sherman. UCM (30-23) had its best scoring opportunity in the sixth with two outs and a Angela Selby at third but Lauren Young popped up to end the threat. Duluth scored the game winner in the eighth with a two out single to left field off the bat of Myriam Trepanier. Holland struck out four batters and didn't walk anyone in her 7.2 to end the season at 8-6.
The Jennies finished their season with a 30-23 overall record and 14-4 mark in conference good for second place. The 14 conference were the most in a season since the 1998 team went 16-4.
