16 Mules and Jennies qualify for NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

 

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) ‑ Six Central Missouri State University Jennies and 10 Mules have qualified to compete in the 2004 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  The Championships will be held May 27‑29 at Walnut, Calif..

On the women's side, indoor national champion Jennifer Drum has the highest rank, as she enters the meet ranked third in the high jump.  Kristin Anderson, an All‑American in 2003, enters at fourth in the steeplechase, while Denise Sandbothe is the Jennies' lone dual event qualifier, as she is entered in the pole vault and 100‑meter hurdles.

Ivan Varbanov has qualified in both the high jump and triple jump for the Mules.  The CMSU men also have two relay teams entered, as both the 4x100‑ and 4x400‑meter relay teams have qualified.

Following are the competitors who will be representing Central Missouri State at the NCAA‑II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  Included is each athlete’s hometown, rank entering the meet, and top performance of 2004.

Heptathlon ‑ Lori Pitz (Windsor, Colo.) ‑ 12th with 4,670 points
