15 Qualify for National Indoor Meet

 

The CMSU track and field team qualified 15 student athletes for the NCAA National Championships in Boston, Mass. on March 10-11. The Mules and Jennies hope to add to the Indoor MIAA Championship performances from February 24-25.

On the men's side, senior Steven Edwards (Mound City, Mo.) qualified in the weight throw and the shot put. He was the conference champion in the weight throw with a toss of 60-03.25, and in the shot put with a throw of 56-08.75.

Freshman Bruce Williams (Minneapolis, Minn.) qualified in the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash. He won the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.54.

For the women, senior Lori Pitz (Windsor, Co.) qualified in the 400 meter dash and in the distance medley relay. She was third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.41 and was part of the distance medley relay team which finished sixth.

Senior Kristin Anderson (Richfield, Ohio) will be participating in the 5000 meter run in Boston as she was the event champion (18:06.15). She also won the 3000 meter run and the mile run, earning High-Point Individual honors for the meet.

The others to qualify for the national meet for the men were senior Jarod Wall in the 5000 meter run, sophomore Dan Raithel in the weight throw, sophomore Kyle Brown, junior Ryan Irvin, sophomore Dannon Abney, and freshman Imani Butler qualified for the 4 x 400 meter relay. The others to qualify for the women were senior Amber Walker, sophomore Alison Kelly, and sophomore Gina Kennison in the distance medley relay, senior Jennifer Drum-Greer and sophomore Haley Morrissey in the high jump.
