Mules capture 10th at NCAA-II Championships
The University of Central Missouri Mules finished 10th at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships this weekend in Charlotte, N.C. with a team effort, literally. The 4x400 meter and 4x100 meter relay teams took second and seventh, respectively, to help UCM to 21 team points. The Jennies had two All-American finishes in the heptathlon to take 37th overall.
The 4x400 meter relay squad of Dannon Abney, Ryan Irvin, Bruce Williams, and Kai Roper ran to an All-American time of 3:06.42. Junior Dan Raithel also had a personal best toss of 209-03 in the hammer throw to finish second. Kyle Brown was sixth in the 800 meter run at 1:52.29 and the 4x100 meter relay squad of Abney, Williams, Irvin, and Roper took home a time of 40.83.
On the Jennies side, Cody Varner finished with a fifth place score of 4,863 points in the heptathlon while Anne Carlson was seventh at 4,806 points.
The Mules and Jennies capped off a season in which they both captured the MIAA Conference Championship.
