Mules tied for 10th place at the 2007
NCAA-II Outdoor Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina, as
competition came to an end on Saturday. UCM had a total of six
All-American finishes in the three-day event. In addition to the
runner-up finishes posted by Dan Raithel and the 4x400 meter relay team, Kyle Brown finished 6th in the 800 Meter Run and the Mules 4x100 Meter Relay Team
placed 7th. All-American performances were also posted by the Jennies' Cody Varner
(5th) and Anne Carlson (7th) in the Heptathlon. Varner and Carlson provided the Jennies with all of their points in the women's competition.

Mules and Jennies captured both
MIAA Outdoor Championships as competition ended
Sunday, May 6th, in Hays, Kansas. The Jennies completed a sweep of both the Indoor and Outdoor Women's titles by edging Pittsburg State 188-180. The Mules came on strong during the day Sunday to wrap-up the Men's championship with 159 points, with Missouri Southern second with 132.5 points. The Mules had a total of seven first-place performances, led by Bruce Williams who won the 100 and 200 Meter Dash events, and ran a leg on the winning 4x100 and 4x400 Meter Relay Teams. Other first place finishes for the Mules: Dan Raithel - Hammer Throw, Kai Roper - 400 Meter Dash, and Adam Akers - 5000 Meter Run. Anne Carlson led the Jennies by winning both the Heptathlon and Long Jump, while Elise Johnson captured the 100 Meter Dash and ran a leg on the winning 4x100 Meter Relay Team. Brittanie Roldan captured the Triple Jump as the Jennies had a total of five first-place finishes, but used their overall depth to win the title.

Mule Relays on Friday, April 20th. Overall, UCM had 21 first place
performances in the event.

Brittanie Roldan was fifth in
the
Women's Triple Jump, and the Mules quartet of Bruce Williams, Dannon
Abney, Kyle Brown, and Ryan Irvin took seventh in the
Men's 4x400 Meter Relay. Dan Raithel started the string of
All-American finishes on Friday when he took seventh in the
Men's Weight Throw.

Co-Track & Field Coach Kip Janvrin continued to add to his record total
of individual titles at the
Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, by
winning the
Masters 800 event for the second consecutive year. Janvrin
posted the best time in the 40-age division in the USA this year in the
event (1:53.89) on Friday, April 27th. That championship gives Janvrin 17
individual titles, with 15 previous wins in the Decathlon.

Chelsea Luck (above) was the high point individual to lead the Jennies to the
title.
Luck won the 60 Meter Hurdles, the 200 Meter Dash, and rank the
anchor leg on the winning 4x400 Meter Relay Team. That team also
included Cody Varner, Beth Eiken, and Perrine Chapot. Elise Johnson
won the 60 Meter Dash and Brittanie Roldan captured the Long Jump, giving
the Jennies five first-place finishes. The Jennies used depth in
several events to score a total of 145 points and easily outdistance
runner-up Pittsburg State with 77 points.
Women's Results
The Mules matched the Jennies in first-place performances with five, but
fell short in their bid to repeat as the men's team champion, finishing in
third place with 88.5 points. Missouri Southern won the title with 99
points, followed by Pittsburg State with 95.

Mules effort during the MIAA Indoor Meet with with Williams finishing first in the 200 Meter Dash and running the anchor
leg on the winning 4x400 Meter Relay Team. Irvin also won the 600 Yard
Run in addition to being a member of the winning relay team. Other team members included Dannon Abney
and Kyle Brown.
Adam Akers (5000 Meter Run) and Dan Raithel (Weight Throw) were the other
conference champions for the Mules.
