Nicole Cassmeyer Earns Academic All-America Honor

Warrensburg, Mo. (June 14, 2001) -- Central Missouri State University track and field performer Nicole Cassmeyer is a third-team selection on the Verizon College Division At-Large Academic All-America Team for spring sports.

Cassmeyer, a junior from Jefferson City, Mo. (Blair Oaks H.S.), competes in the throwing events for the Jennies. She placed sixth in the shot put (41' 8") and also competed in the hammer and discus at this spring's Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where the Jennies placed fourth. She is majoring in secondary education and has a perfect 4.00 grade point average.

Cassmeyer is also a member of the Jennies' basketball team. She played in all 28 games for the 19-9 Jennies this past season and averaged 7.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Her rebounding average was second-best on the team.

The selection of Cassmeyer to the Spring At-Large Academic All-America Team gives Central Missouri State three Academic All-America picks for the 2000-01 school year. Clint Steiner was a second-team choice on the Verizon Academic All-America Football Team and Corey Clinefelter was a first-team selection on the Verizon Academic All-America Baseball Team.
