1999 CMSU TRACK & FIELD SEASON WRAP-UP

The Mules had two individual national champions and placed seventh with 37 points at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Jeff Sander repeated as national champion in the decathlon and Vladimir Golias repeated as national champion in the steeplechase. For Sander, the national championship marked the 10th time in his career he earned All-America honors, the most ever by a CMSU track and field athlete. The Mules’ other place-winners were Andrei Skvortsov (2nd in the pole vault), James Robinson (3rd in the triple jump) and Duane Brisbon (6th in the triple jump).

At the MIAA outdoor championships, the Mules placed second and the Jennies placed fifth. Individual MIAA champions for the Mules were Jeff Sander in the decathlon, Andrei Skvortsov in the pole vault, Greg Schmidt in the long jump, Duane Brisbon in the triple jump and Vladimir Golias in the steeplechase. The only individual MIAA champion for the Jennies was Jenny Beissenherz in the pole vault.
