Six Jennies named to All-MIAA Volleyball Team

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) - Senior outside hitter Carrie Potthast and freshman libero Katie Tarka head a list of six Central Missouri State University Jennies who were named to the All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Volleyball Team recently. The All-MIAA team is selected by the league’s coaches.

Potthast, a repeat first-teamer from 2002, has 553 kills, 562 digs, 29 service aces, and 71 total blocks (15 solo, 56 assists) this season. She has posted 26 double-doubles on the year.

Tarka, meanwhile, leads the Jennies with 584 digs and has a serve receive percentage of .912.

Selected to the second-team All-MIAA squad was junior middle hitter Elyse Mohme. She leads the Jennies with a .333 hitting percentage and is second in both kills (422) and blocks (118–29 solo, 89 assists). In addition she has 62 digs and 24 service aces.

Central also had three honorable mention All-MIAA picks. Senior rightside hitter Trudy Carter, sophomore middle hitter Becky Haug, and sophomore setter Kaci Young all were selected to the honorable mention team.

Carter is hitting .277 with 367 kills. She also has 91 blocks (11 solo, 80 assists) and 68 digs. Haug leads Central with 130 blocks (21 solo, 109 assists), and is hitting .297 with 265 kills. She also has produced 61 digs and 17 service aces.

Young has been responsible for setting up the attack, and has come through with 1272 assists. She has added 354 digs, a team-leading 40 service aces, and 52 kills with 28 blocks.

The Jennies are 24-10 on the season and finished tied for second in the MIAA with an 11-5 record. They are currently playing in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament in Kirksville, Mo. as the No. 3 seed.
