Central’s Trudy Carter named first-team Academic All-American


(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) - For the past four years, Trudy Carter has been a mainstay on the volleyball court for the Central Missouri State University Jennies. She also has been a player head coach Peggy Martin could count on to get the job done in the classroom as an elementary education major with a perfect 4.00 grade-point average.

Carter was recently honored for her efforts in both venues, as she was named first-team Academic All-American.

A native of Overbrook, Kan., Carter hit .281 for the Jennies in 2002 with 413 kills, 97 total blocks, and 475 points. She helped lead Central to a 26-11 record, 11-5 and tied for second in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. An honorable mention All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association selection, she also earned honorable mention All-South Central Region accolades.

Carter is a three-time All-MIAA and Academic All-MIAA pick and a three-time Academic All-District selection. She is the daughter of Richard and Joan Carter.

The Academic All-America teams are selected for all divisions, and are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
