Jennies place two on Daktronics Division II All-South Central Region Volleyball team


(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) - Katie Tarka and Carrie Potthast represented the Central Missouri State University Jennies on the most recent Daktronics Division II All-South Central Region Volleyball team. Tarka was a first-team selection, while Potthast was named to the second team.

Tarka led the Jennies with 642 kills and also boasted a .912 serve receive percentage. A St. Charles, Mo. native, she was also a first-team All-MIAA selection and an honorable mention American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region pick.

Potthast, a second-team AVCA All-American and first-team All-MIAA pick, led Central with 619 kills and 695.5 points while hitting .229. The St. Rose, Ill. native also had 607 digs, 45 assists, 31 service aces, and 76 blocks (15 solo, 61 assists).

The Daktronics All-Region and All-America teams are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. As a first-team selection, Tarka will now go on the national ballot.

Their efforts helped lead Central to a 26-11 record, 11-5 and tied for second in the MIAA. The Jennies went on to finish second in the South Central Regional Tournament. Central is ranked No. 16 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
