Jennies volleyball signs Iowa prep standout

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) - Head coach Peggy Martin had to fill some pretty big shoes after the graduation of three-year starters Trudy Carter and Carrie Potthast. She took a big step toward filling that void recently, as she added Abraham Lincoln High School standout Amber Yoder to a letter of intent.

Yoder is a native of Council Bluffs, Iowa and the daughter of Keith Yoder and John and Lori Nahnsen. She lettered three seasons as an outside hitter for head coach Troy Gilb. As a senior, the 6-foot-1 Yoder earned first-team all-conference and all-district honors, and was a third-team all-state selection. She was also selected to compete in the Iowa Senior All-Star Classic.

“Amber is an experienced outside hitter who will help with some of the burden of replacing Carrie and Trudy,” Martin says. “She could potentially see playing time as a freshman, she is a good student, and we are glad to have her in our program.”

The Jennies finished the 2003 season with a record of 26-11, 11-5 and second in the MIAA. They also finished second in the Regional Tournament, losing to eventual national champion North Alabama in the regional finals.

The 2004 CMSU Jennies open their season August 26 when they travel to Orange Beach, Ala. to take on the University of West Alabama. They then move on to Pensacola, Fla. for the West Florida Invitational.
