Jennies land six on the All-MIAA Volleyball Team
(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – The Central Missouri State University Jennies were well rewarded for going 28-5, 13-3 and second in the MIAA during the 2004 regular season. Six Jennies volleyballers were named by the league coaches to the All-MIAA team.
First-team honors went to senior middle hitter Elyse Mohme (Columbia, Ill.) and Katie Tarka (St. Charles, Mo.). Named to the second-team were junior middle hitter Becky Haug (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) and junior setter Kaci Young (Littleton, Colo.), while honorable mention accolades went to senior outside hitter Lindsay Robertson (Washington, Mo.) and freshman outside hitter Audrey Jensen (Independence, Mo).
Mohme is a two-time second-team All-MIAA selection who this season is leading the Jennies with a .383 hitting percentage, 517 kills (4.42 per game), 98 total blocks (0.84 per game), and 572.5 points.
Tarka is a repeat first-team All-MIAA selection, having earned top team honors as a freshman in 2003. She leads the MIAA and is second in NCAA Division II in digs with 6.64 per game (a school record 724 digs for the year). She also has 23 service aces this season.
Haug and Young were both honorable mention All-MIAA selections last year. Haug, has a team-best 0.91 blocks per game (96 total), and is second on the team in kills (356, 3.39 per game), hitting percentage (.350), and points (436.0). Young, meanwhile, has 1,408 assists (12.24 pg) and is hitting .288 with 115 kills. She also had a team-high 31 service aces and has put up 380 digs (3.30 pg).
Robertson is tops on the Jennies this year with 11 double-doubles. For the year, she has 274 kills (2.38 pg), 399 digs (3.47 pg), 27 service aces, and 46 total blocks (0.40 pg).
Jensen was one of only four freshmen named All-MIAA this season (of 39 players honored). She was fourth on the team with 243 kills (2.08 pg) and also had 435 digs (3.72 pg, second best on the squad), 26 service aces, and 44 total blocks (0.38 pg).
The Jennies are currently competing in the MIAA Postseason Tournament. They open in the semifinals with Washburn University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 11.
