Three Jennies named to AVCA All-South Central Region team
The Central Missouri State University Jennies placed three players on the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-South Central Region team.
Senior middle hitter Becky Haug (Lee’s Summit, Mo.), junior defensive specialist/libero Katie Tarka (St. Charles, Mo.), and senior setter Kaci Young (Littleton, Colo.) all were named to the All-Region team and are now on the ballot for All-America honors. Haug was a first-team All-MIAA pick, while Tarka and Young were both second-team honorees.
Haug led the Mules with 492 kills (3.81 per game), a .338 hitting percentage, and 158 blocks (40 solo, 118 assists, 1.22 per game).
Tarka moved to outside hitter late in the season, but still finished the season with 612 digs. She also had 23 service aces, 169 kills, and 24 total blocks (three solo, 21 assists).
Young became CMSU’s all-time leader in assists after putting up 1,682. She added 377 digs, 120 kills, a team-best 39 service aces, and 78 blocks (10 solo, 68 assists).
The Jennies finished the 2005 campaign with a record of 26-10, 12-4 and third in the MIAA. Central Missouri advanced to the South Central Region tournament finals for the fourth consecutive season.
